Training Course: Outdoor Learning Activities in Cultural and Environmental Education
Training Course as part of KA1 project.
AIM: The participants will be introduced to basic ecological problems such as Climate Change
and the role of Environmental and Cultural Education with the use of Innovative Teaching
Methods and onsite activities in addressing these problems.

TARGET AUDIENCE: The course is addressed to teachers, educators of Primary and
Secondary Education, members of of ecological organizations and NGOs, University
students or anybody interested in these matters.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
-Development of a holistic approach in environmental education.
-Introduction to creative and innovative ways of interactive teaching.
-Connection of the participants with the local culture and the nature of Crete though “live”,

outdoor and onsite courses.
-Contact with the beauty of learning through the history of local sites, by experiencing the
nature, the sea, the local cuisine and the traditions of Chania.
-Multi-level approach to participants’ inspiration: emotional, mental, physical, and social.
-Discussion on the current issues, such as the importance of peace and the environmental
challenges, by taking into account the latest scientific data and the digital/technological
improvements primarily aiming at the reduction of our footprint in every stage of our
day-to-day lives.
-Promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as those are defined by the
United Nations.
COURSE METHODOLOGY:
-Developing a theoretical and background; case studies; role playing; practical ways of

-Cultivating the spirit of cooperation and the community way of thinking through a
well-defined curriculum.
-Empowering the participants to present their own perspective and their working-together-

-Working on the philosophy of the ideas of European Green Deal; EU Climate Action;

-Taking advantage of the interdisciplinary environmental multicultural background of the
members of the ECO-EDU, so that the participants by all means experience a methodology
beyond the limits of a regular classroom.
-Thinking of ways to support members of the communities from various disadvantaged
backgrounds with focus on refugees, war victims, people with special needs and care.
CERTIFICATION: A certificate of attendance is presented to participants at the end of the
course. Europass Mobility Certificate.
